Terms of play

The house rules, in plain English. Last updated 30 August 2026.

The short version

  • Find Four is free, provided as-is, and made with love.
  • Play ranked games yourself — no engines, no rating tricks.
  • Keep names and reactions friendly. Kids play here.
  • Break the rules and you can lose your rating or account.
1

The service

Find Four is a free online four-in-a-row game. There is nothing to buy, no premium tier and no ads. We run it because we love the game, and we provide it as-is: we aim for it to be up and working all the time, but we cannot promise it always will be.

2

Your account

You can play as an automatically-created guest, or sign in to keep your record across devices. Your account is yours alone — do not share it or impersonate other people.

Display names must be family-friendly. Offensive, hateful or misleading names are blocked automatically where we can and removed by us where we must, and repeat attempts can mean losing the account.

3

Fair play

Ranked games are played by you, not your computer. Using engines, bots or another person's help in ranked games is cheating, as is deliberately manipulating ratings — for example by losing on purpose to a friend's account.

If we believe an account is cheating we may reset its rating, remove it from the leaderboard or close it. Casual games against friends or the computer are your playground; practise however you like there.

4

Behaviour towards other players

Emoji reactions exist so games feel friendly and human. Use them to say hello and have fun — not to harass people. There is no free-text chat precisely so that everyone, including kids, can play safely.

5

Games and interruptions

Timed games are decided by the board or the clock: disconnecting does not pause your clock, and leaving a live timed game counts as a loss. Unlimited games have no clock and wait indefinitely — but resigning or leaving still ends them.

We do our best to keep games alive through server updates. If a game is ever lost to a genuine technical fault, our sincere apologies — no rating change from a broken game is ever intended, and you can tell us about it.

6

Liability

Find Four is provided free of charge and without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the site — though nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

7

The name "Connect 4"

Find Four is an independent four-in-a-row game and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Hasbro. Connect 4 is a trademark of Hasbro, Inc., which we mention only to describe the classic game ours resembles.

8

Changes and the law

We may update these terms as the site grows; the date at the top always reflects the latest version, and continuing to play after a change means you accept it.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Questions or problems? Email hello@findfour.io.
